Our Services For Parents
Diamonds in the rough uses a trauma-informed care approach. We are committed to evidence based and all our mentors are trained in this. We use neuroscience to support our workshop content, our program delivery, and our mentoring. This includes scientific information on the brain and its application to support our young whanau.
Diamonds In The Rough facilitate workshops on numerous relevant topics including:
• Self-worth, self-love, self-respect, self-confidence.
• Core values, love languages, boundaries.
• Relationships – partner, family, child.
• Attachment – mama, papa and pepe, and the influence on future relationships especially with partners and young papa.
• Trauma and the brain and strategies to manage and cope with trauma.
• Purpose – dreams, passion, vision and how to identify this and take steps towards this.
• Self-care – heart, body, spirit, soul. Fun and rest and what that looks like and practical workshop on the pelvic floor, exercises to strengthen it and easy workouts for young mums developed by a qualified fitness coach.
• Dealing with stress and anxiety – including mindfulness, grounding, growth mindset and other strategies.
All our workshops have usually included some form of creativity (sugar scrubs, painting, cupcakes etc) and/or pampering (nails, facials, hand/neck/shoulder massages).
Our Founder Shilpa recently won the Cherry Raymond Award through Zonta Auckland (an international organisation for women) and this was for a project designed and implemented by Shilpa to support women towards understanding their value and worth. The information on this project is regularly updated on our Facebook page.
Diamonds in the Rough South Auckland meets once a fortnight for Connect Group where young mothers connect for a meal or a picnic at the beach. For more information, connect with our Facebook page.

Diamonds in the Rough has been working towards supporting our new mothers who have just given birth to their baby. We are aware of the risk of postnatal depression and also the importance of support during the first three weeks post baby. We have trialed this approach and it has been successful for our mothers. We are hoping to administer this support when we are able to source funding for this.
Diamonds in the Rough offers 1:1 and small group mentoring. Connect with our Facebook page for more information.
Diamonds in the Rough is big on celebrations and we love celebrating our mama. We have celebrations for baby showers, Mother’s Day, Christmas, and more.
